A component of the CEHD Strategic Plan focuses on creating a climate that fosters and supports development of students through research and instruction. This research program is designed to help you in your research productivity and involve more undergraduates in the research life of the university. The CEHD will provide matching funds for undergraduate students working on CEHD faculty members' ongoing research program. In addition, the faculty member will provide mentorship and guidance to undergraduate students on the research process.

The fundamental objective of the USRI is to give students an opportunity to learn to conduct research. Undergraduate student participants will learn about scientific reasoning, research methods, theoretical principles, and scientific communication.

The specific objectives of the USRI are to:

  • Give TAMU undergraduate students exposure conducting original research;
  • Foster development of research skills;
  • Foster an awareness of the major questions currently under investigation in education, health, and the social sciences; and
  • Promote interactions with CEHD faculty through an immersion in the research environment.
